Terms and conditions

What the licence lets you do, and the limits on what the app promises.

Last updated: 01/10/26

01

What the licence covers

A licence lets one person install and use FileVerdict on up to three devices. Annual licences are valid for 12 months from purchase; lifetime licences do not expire. Both include all updates released while the licence is valid.

02

Activation and checks

The app activates with your key on first run. After that it re-checks the key at most once a day when it starts, and keeps working offline for up to 14 days between checks. When an annual licence expires, the app stops working until you buy a new licence.

03

Moving devices

Deactivate a machine in the app to free the slot for another. If a device is lost or wiped, contact us via our support page, and the slot will be released for you.

04

What you may not do

You may not share, resell or publish your licence key, or attempt to circumvent, bypass or disable the licence check. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the extent the law gives you the right to do so despite this restriction. You may not modify, tamper with, or create derivative works of the app, and you may not redistribute the app, in original or modified form, through any channel other than our own official download links. Doing any of the above voids the licence without refund.

05

Acceptable use

FileVerdict is a tool for organising and compressing video files you already have the right to use. You are responsible for complying with the copyright and other laws that apply to you, in your own country. We do not endorse or support using FileVerdict for any unlawful purpose, including handling content you do not have the right to possess, copy or distribute. Abusing the app voids the licence without refund.

06

No warranty on your files

FileVerdict shows you every change before it is applied, and leaves originals in place by default. Even so, it edits media files, and you use it at your own risk. Keep backups of anything you cannot replace. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for data loss, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the licence.

07

Ending the licence

We may suspend or terminate a licence if these terms are broken, including the restrictions in sections 04 and 05, or if we have good reason to believe a key has been shared, resold, published, or used to get around the device limit. A licence ended for these reasons is not refunded. If you think we got it wrong, contact support and a person will review it. You may stop using the app and deactivate your devices at any time; this does not entitle you to a refund outside the window set out in our refunds policy.

08

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the United Kingdom, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of the United Kingdom.
